Usage statistics
What sharing anonymous usage statistics sends, how to see it, and how to turn it off.
Browse the docs
Sideview can send us anonymous usage statistics, so we can see which features and built-in AIs people use and what to improve. It’s off unless you choose Share: Sideview asks once, on its welcome page or in a notice in the panel.
Turn it on or off
Open ⋯ > Settings > Privacy & data and use Share anonymous usage statistics. Turning it off deletes the day’s counts and anything waiting to be sent. In Firefox, turning it on also asks for Firefox’s technical and interaction data permission; removing that permission in Firefox’s add-on settings turns sharing off.
What’s sent
Once a day: which built-in AIs and which features you used that day, how many sites you added (named only if they’re well-known public AI sites), ranges for open tabs and panel opens, and the version, browser, language and plan. Each day’s batch has a new random ID, it’s sent without cookies or sign-in, and we don’t store IP addresses with it. It never includes chats, chat titles, page addresses, what you type or the addresses of sites you add. The privacy policy lists every field.
See it for yourself
With sharing on, Show what would be sent under the switch displays today’s batch exactly as it would be sent.
Suggest an AI
With Pro, a site you added that isn’t a well-known AI site has a Suggest button in Settings > Providers. It shows you the site’s hostname and, after you confirm, sends only that, so we can consider making it a built-in AI. It works whether or not statistics are on.
