What is an AI sidebar?
An AI sidebar keeps a chat open beside the page you are browsing. Sideview is a Chrome extension that opens ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and other AI chat sites in the browser’s side panel, using the accounts you are already signed in to.
Is Sideview free?
Yes. The sidebar, chat tabs and every supported provider are free, with no Sideview account. Sideview Pro is an optional $5 USD per month subscription for tools that work with the page you are on.
Do I need API keys or a paid AI plan?
No. Sideview opens the providers’ own websites, so your existing plan with them, free or paid, works as usual and their usage limits still apply. Pro does not include an AI subscription.
Can Sideview see my conversations?
No. The free extension never reads your chats. It remembers chat addresses and titles on your device, which you can turn off. Pro reads a page or chat only when you ask, and sends it to the AI you chose or a file you save, never to Sideview. The extension has no analytics; this website uses cookieless visit counts.
Which browsers does Sideview work in?
Desktop Chrome 116 or later, which is our primary test browser, plus Edge through Microsoft Edge Add-ons, Firefox 140 or later through Firefox Add-ons, and Brave and Vivaldi through the Chrome Web Store. Panel behavior and provider sign-in can differ outside Chrome.
