Sideview 2.0: teams, a bigger Pro and a better free panel
Our biggest update yet: a team plan, yearly billing, Pro tools for working across AIs, and a free panel that does a lot more.
By Sideview · October 30, 2026 · Version 2.0.0
Sideview started with one idea: keep the AI you already use open beside your tabs, signed in with your own account. Version 2.0 is the biggest update since then. Most of it comes from what people asked for while using 1.x, and from the list of rough edges we kept while building it.
A better panel, for free
Everything in this section is in the free version. It needs no Sideview account.
- Tab menus. Right-click a tab to rename it, pin it, copy its link, open it in a browser tab or close the others. Pinned tabs stay at the left and never sleep.
- Starred and recent chats. Star a chat to keep it on the start page after you close its tab, and reopen any of the last ten chats you closed.
- Send selected text. Right-click a selection, or use its shortcut, to put it in the chat box. Nothing is sent until you press send.
- Your language. The panel, settings and menus are now in German, Spanish, French, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean and Brazilian Portuguese, following your browser.
- Small things that add up. Separate tabs for each window, text size for each AI, a list of every tab when they overflow, Alt+1 to Alt+9, back up and restore, and error messages that tell you what to do next.
- Artifacts and canvas. ChatGPT, Claude, Grok, Meta AI and Le Chat previews and apps now work in the panel without a prompt.
Pro: from page tools to working across AIs
Pro used to be mostly about getting a page into a chat. In 2.0 it covers the whole loop: getting things in, working across several AIs, and getting answers back out.
- Send anything. The page as Markdown with its headings, links and tables, an image, part of the page, a full-page screenshot, a PDF, a YouTube transcript, a linked page or several tabs at once. Gmail threads, Google Docs, Stack Overflow and GitHub pull requests are read their own way.
- Prompts that do more. Folders, built-in blanks such as {{selection}} and {{url}}, a right-click item for any prompt, ;;word shortcuts in the chat box, prompts that run as steps, and share links.
- Across AIs. Compare two to four AIs side by side in a full tab, save the sets you use, keep the best answer, and download the whole comparison. Ask another AI checks an answer or continues the chat somewhere else.
- Answers out. Put the last answer into the field you are typing in, send a chat to Obsidian, save every open chat as one file, or collect pieces in the scratchpad.
- Organised. Workspaces, site rules that match page patterns and can open a prompt or a linked chat, a dot when a reply finishes in the background, Sideview in its own window, and your chats on your other computers.
- Any chat site. Add another AI chat, such as your company's own, and use it like the built-in ones.
Sideview for teams
The team plan is $7 USD per seat a month, with at least 3 seats on one invoice. Every member gets Pro. Admins share prompts and site rules, and set defaults for the team: the starting AI, comparison sets, Translate languages, right-click wording, a company chat site, and AIs to keep hidden. Owners, admins, editors and members each see only what their role allows.
Personal prompts, shortcuts and settings stay yours, and they win over the team's, except AIs the team keeps hidden. Activity sharing is off by default on every device. If a member turns it on, the team sees an approximate last-seen time and combined prompt counts, never chat text or browsing history. Start a team from your account.
Pay yearly
Pro is $5 USD a month, or $40 USD a year. The team plan can also be paid yearly, at $55 USD per seat a year. If you already subscribe monthly, you can switch to yearly under Manage billing on your account page.
Updating to 2.0
Sideview updates itself. To let artifacts and canvas previews show without asking, 2.0 adds the providers' own content sites (for example claudeusercontent.com) to the sites Sideview works with. Because of that, Chrome and Edge turn Sideview off after the update until you approve it, and Firefox asks before updating. Sideview removes those sites' frame-blocking headers only when the provider loads them in the panel. How permissions work.
What hasn't changed
The free panel still needs no account and contacts no Sideview server. The extension has no browsing analytics. Pro reads a page or chat only when you ask, and sends it to the AI you chose. Your AI plans are still your own.
